Guide

Every November and December, New York turns on its trees. Rockefeller Center’s tree arrives November 7, 2026 (Meet the Tree Day) and is lit Wednesday, December 2, from 7–10 p.m. — free to watch from public plaza areas, with no public tickets for the ceremony itself. The tree stays on view into mid-January 2027. Dumbo’s free lighting under the Manhattan Bridge archway is Thursday, December 3, 4–7 p.m.

Neighborhood plazas and parks add their own free lightings the same weeks. This page lists only lightings already verified on Free Stuff NYC: 31 listings (30 free). Arrive early for Midtown nights. For shops instead of ceremonies, see holiday markets; menorah lightings live on Hanukkah in NYC.
